The Harp Society of New Zealand has been in existence since 1986, and became an Incorporated Society in 2002. Its principal aims are to promote the harp and harp playing in New Zealand, and to support New Zealand's physically scattered harp community by organising educational events such as the Harp Festival in 2004 and local area gatherings, and to provide a forum for harpists to exchange ideas. To this end, it publishes three issues of it's Journal annually, and has an established  web forum.

Anna Dunwoodie - President

I have been playing the lever and pedal harp for more than 20 years and particularly enjoy traditional music and singing with the harp - I couldn't name a favourite piece if my life depended on it - there are too many - favourite composer - easy - Bernard Andres, and Grandjany, and Tournier and, and .... and....!
I'm lucky - I get to spend most of my week working with harps, harpers and the harp society. There are so many great things about being involved with harps and I've met many great people.I love teaching harp and my students are inspirational and we have a lot of fun ... so much so that my sons are keen to learn too.

Bernard Peck - Treasurer

I have been mesmerized by the Harp since I was a child (I used to watch buskers play in the Whangarei mall).   I consider myself a little old and inflexible to learn the harp now, but manage to enjoy all facets of the harp through my daughter's playing.
I'm looking after the finances and membership of the society.   I am an accountant and have a background of business audit, systems and Financial Control.

Raewynn Robertson - Secretary

I have always loved the sound of the harp but didn't think I would ever play one myself. I started playing just over 2 years ago. My daughter, Laura, had just started and I had to tune her harp. I realised that the harp was easier for me to play than other instruments I had tried - so it was logical and made perfect sense. I don't aspire to be a concert harpist, I play for me!  I'm a Research Librarian by day and have been on other committees so have plenty of these skills to bring to the NZHS.

Brynmor Williams

Born into a musical family in South Wales, it was inevitable that I would somehow end up in the music business! I started taking harp lessons quite by accident at school and years later found myself studying the harp at college. I developed a keen interest in the mechanics of harp playing and began a study of harp technique and sound production that continues even now! Looking back, I have had a fabulously varied career that has quite literally taken me all over the world- ranging from Orchestral work to Solo performances on stage and Television, to teaching the harp at Universities and schools of music.

I have been playing the harp for over 20 years back in my home country, France. I took lessons with Marie-Monique Popesco, a fantastic french teacher who passed me her passion of the harp. Since moving to New Zealand in 2002, I have been playing with the Manawatu Sinfonia, in chamber music concerts, and I occasionally play background music at receptions or weddings. I also designed this website.
