New Zealand Harp Performance Competition

"With thanks to a very generous donation from a member of the NZHS, we are inviting all NZHS financial members to take part in a New Zealand wide harp performance competition for harpists of any age!  Enter at one of the four levels.  Entry Form: 2015 harp comp entry form.pdf.

One winner at each level will receive a prize.       

* new $50 spot prize in the Initial/Grade One Class kindly donated by Astar's Place (http://astarsplace.co.nz/)  This prize will be selected by Astar herself and she is looking forward to seeing all the beginner harpists all dressed up and doing their best performance!!

* Initial Grade/Grade One  - prize $75

* Grade Two/Three  - prize $75

*Grade Four/Five    - prize $100

*Grade Six/Seven/Eight    - prize $150

*Grade Eight and upwards – prize $200 (new class!!!!!  Donated by Stewart Harps, Auckland)

There will also be one bonus prize of $100 for one harpist at any one level who didn’t win their level, but did impress the judges.

* You must be a financial harp society member (paid up for 2015/16)

* Your performance is to be one piece only, not longer than 3 minutes in duration.

* Your entry needs to be validated by a teacher to confirm you are not playing below your actual ability. If you are not currently under the guidance of a teacher, please get in touch to discuss how your entry will be validated.

* Your performance is to be videoed and sent to Anna.

* Entries must be received by 5pm, Friday October 9th 2015. No late entries will be accepted.

N.B  The organisers and judges reserve the right to suggest a ‘more appropriate’ level if an entry has been placed in a level too high or too low.  If the harpist chooses not to comply with the suggestion, their entry may be forfeited.

Winners will be contacted and results will be published in the NZHS journal in November.

The judges are Rebecca Harris, Carolyn Mills, Helen Webby, Yi Jin, and a non-harpist judge who is yet to be confirmed.
