Singing For Our Lives - this is the second concert in this series (the first being in May at St David in the Fields, Hillsborough) and again, it is a fundraising concert for The Auckland Women's Centre.
The AWC lost a huge chunk of government funding for 2017, and considering the amazing job they do for Auckland women, we thought they were an awesome group to help out.
The concert features 13 Auckland based musicians - all well known on the NZ folk scene - performing as "The House Band" and in smaller ensembles.
The group consists of Anna Dunwoodie (harp), Linda Whitcombe (violin), Anna Percy (cello), Hanna Wiskari (alto sax), Margo Regan (box), Innes Asher (whistles), Kay McCabe (bass), Beverly Young (bodhran), Jean Reid (guitar), Karen Jones (guitar/harp), Elizabeth Bennett (harp), Harry Champion (guitar) and Ian Bartlett (bodhran/whistles) and we all sing too!
Featuring a wide range of music - from strictly traditional, to definitely not traditional folk music - its the music of the people - well, our people anyway!
