Monday 08 November, 6:30 p.m. St Heliers Church & Community Centre, St Heliers
  AND

Tuesday 09 November, 6:30 p.m. Titirangi War Memorial Hall

Featuring Ingrid Bauer, Principal Harp!

Ibert Trio for Violin, Cello and Harp

Flagello Suite for Harp and String Trio

Sofia Gubaidulina Five Études for Harp, Double Bass and Percussion

Françaix Quintet No.1 for Flute, Harp and String Trio

The harp is more than music for angels and Hollywood flashbacks, as Ingrid Bauer shows us in this wide-ranging programme. The mystical Russian composer Sofia Gubaidulina has an endlessly surprising sonic palette, and the American Nicolas Flagello writes with a Romantic sensibility. Ibert and Françaix (like all French composers) simply adored the instrument, as can be heard in these bubbly pieces.

Thursday Nov 18 2021, 8pm Great Hall, Auckland Town Hall

Mahler's Adagietto is famous for its emotionally moving harp part; and there are also a lot of harp notes in the Wagner Prelude!
