Mahler's Songs of a Wayfarer is a narration of a young man wandering aimlessly in nature, seeking peace but haunted by lost love. Rising baritone Faamanu Fonoti-Fuimaono conveys the wayfarer's emotional journey.
Berlioz spins the same heartbreak into a vivid, hallucinatory drama. Symphonie fantastique marked a musical revolution, daring in its originality, scale, imagination, and mastery of the macabre.
